Box Score DEERFIELD, Ill. - A slow start in the opening quarter was the difference on Saturday as the Lady Trojans were unable to overcome 26 points from the Bee's to open the game, as TIU would fall 69-51 to St. Ambrose inside the Van Dixhorn Arena.
The Bee's came out of the gate quickly to open the game, knocking down four early baskets to grab a quick 9-4 lead. From that point on it was all SAU as the Bee's continued to knock down open looks, while dominating in the paint. The Trojans offense stifled in the first quarter, tallying only 12 points with
Bridgette Smith chipping in six of them.
For the remainder of the game the Trojan defense did their best to stop the high powered offense of the Bee's.TIU would hold Ambrose to under 20 points in each of the remaining three quarters of play,
but the slow start in the opening quarter was too much to overcome.Â
Despite the strong defensive effort in the second half the Trojans offense struggled to knock down shots as Trinity shot just 36% from the field, eventually falling 69-51 to SAU.
Smith and
Kylee Daniels led the way for the Trojans offensively, each finishing with a team high 16 points in the effort.
The Lady Trojans look for their second CCAC win next Wednesday when they hit the road to face Governors State at 5:30 PM.
