Game 1: Trinity International vs. Midway

The TIU Softball team started off their last day of The Spring Games with a win, defeating Midway University 4-3 with a late comeback on Thursday morning. 

The team went scoreless until the sixth inning when sophomore Sara Grygus scored the first run to make the game 1-3. In the top of the seventh, Grygus hit a home run and scored herself, freshman Lauren Neveau, and sophomore Jessica Vroman.

Midway was unable to come back in the seventh due to solid defensive play from Neveau and senior Emily Doomis, who contributed to a one-two-three inning to put away the Eagles.

Grygus carried the team offensively, going 2-4 at the plate with a single and an HR, along with 3 RBI's and bringing in an additional run.

Defensively, Doomis held down the team with 13 of the team's 21 putouts. Neveau led in assists, adding 5 of the team's 14 total.

Junior Taylor Carli added her third win with yet another strong pitching game inside the circle, throwing seven full innings and allowing just three runs on five hits along with three shutout innings.
 

Game 2: Trinity International vs. Marian

The Trojans weren't able to pick up a second win on their final day in Florida, suffering a 2-20 loss against the Marian University knights on Thursday afternoon.

Jessica Vroman put up a solid effort at the plate, going 2-3 with a pair of singles. Vroman was able to bring in the first run for TIU off of a single from Sara Gygus in the first. Lauren Neveau then quickly scored the last Trojan run of the afternoon, as they were unable to put anything else together offensively.

Emily Doomis and Neveau again led in putouts and assists with seven putouts and two assists, respectively.

The Trojans return to Illinois as they face Lindenwold University-Belleville in a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 17.
