CHICAGO, Ill. --- TIU softball pitcher Alyssa Frey and catcher Heather Anderson have been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference's (CCAC) Pitcher and Player of the Week respectively, as announced by the league on Tuesday morning. The selections are the first conference honors for both.

Frey, a native of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, dominated her lone start in the past week, tossing a five-inning, one hit shutout in Trinity's game two win at Viterbo during last Saturday's doubleheader in La Crosse. Alyssa also struck out six batters and issued no walks in TIU's 11-0 win.

Anderson, a senior from Glendale Heights, Illinois, was nearly perfect at the plate with six hits in seven at bats in the doubleheader at Viterbo with a .857 batting average. Heather scored two runs, one double and four runs batted in over the course, which also included her first career home run.

The wins at Viterbo helped TIU improve their record to 5-7 on the season. Frey, Anderson and the Trojans return to action on Saturday, March 27 as they open CCAC play with a doubleheader at Trinity Christian. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00pm in Palos Heights, and can be watched LIVE on the TCC Trolls Live Stream.
