IRVING, Tex. --- The National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Hall of Fame announced their 2021 Hampshire Honor Society inductees on Wednesday, with two TIU Trojans being selected. The Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football players from all divisions (NCAA, NAIA and the Collegiate Sprint League) honors athletes who have maintained a 3.2 grade point average (GPA) throughout their college careers.
Dillon Patrick, a senior from Flat Rock, Michigan majoring in exercise science has been part of the TIU football program since 2017, has played in the Trojan backfield as a running back for four seasons, totalling 195 all-purpose yards on offense. Patrick played much of the 2020 season on special teams as a kick returner. In addition to being selected to the Hampshire Honor Society this year, Patrick was also named an NAIA Scholar Athlete in 2019, as well as a member of the Mid-States Football Association's (MSFA) All-Academic Team a year ago.
Cooper Williams, a senior punter from Elk Grove, Illinois studying sports and wellness management has played for the blue and white since 2018, seeing action in six games during his three year career. Williams totaled 506 total punting yards during the 2019 and 2020 seasons, including a career- high 46 yard punt against Indiana Wesleyan in 2019.
"We are thrilled to have Dillon and Cooper be named to the NFF Hampshire Society," said TIU Director of Athletics Heather Logue. "Their commitment to their academic success as student-athletes at TIU is a testament to their hard work both in the classroom, as well as on the football field."
Patrick and Williams' selections make them just two of 910 college football players this year to join the Hampshire Honor Society, and only two of 53 NAIA players nationwide. The pair of Trojans are also the sixth and seventh TIU players to earn the honor.
The Trojans finished the shortened 2020 season with an 0-7 record overall, and 0-6 mark in MSFA-Midwest League play.
