BANNOCKBURN, Ill. --- The Trinity International University football program is thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership with a local business to help continue the development of Trojan student-athletes in training for their seasons. TIU is proud to work with the SPEAR Training Center in Vernon Hills as the new strength and conditioning partner for Trojan football players.
"We are very excited to work with SPEAR Training as our new strength and conditioning partner for our student-athletes," said TIU Director of Athletics Heather Logue. "We take pride knowing our student-athletes will receive great training from SPEAR as they prepare to compete. We're also excited to help support a fantastic local organization dedicated to the development of athletes."
SPEAR, short for Sports Performance Enhancement and Athletic Recovery, will work exclusively in designing workouts and training regimens for TIU athletic teams. As one of the premier training facilities in the region, SPEAR trainers focus heavily on the training, recovery, health, and longevity of athletes.
"SPEAR Training Center is privileged to be given the opportunity to work with TIU's football program this season as their strength and conditioning coaches," said co-owners Jonathan Sicora and Jeff McCoy. "We look forward to working with the coaches and players to establish a training program that will help the team succeed on the field this upcoming season. We're excited to be part of the journey and can't wait to see the success in store for these young men!"
"During our transition of coaches, our strength coach departed the program," head football coach Willie Tillman explained. "Coach Quintin Demps, while he was with the Chicago Bears, did rehab with SPEAR Training. To have a group of professionals come in and take over your strength and conditioning is huge, because it's a big piece of winning football games. You have to be in shape. It's a true blessing to have them partner with us, and we hope for it to be a long and happy relationship."
SPEAR has developed an impressive network of professional athletes using their services, including Cody Whitehair, James Daniels, and Eddie Goldman of the Chicago Bears, and Megan Bozek, goalie for the U.S. women's national ice hockey team. In addition to professional athletes, a number of Chicago area college athletes have utilized SPEAR's services, including former Indiana Hoosiers and current Arkansas Razorbacks small forward Justin Smith from nearby Lincolnshire, and former Loyola-Chicago center and All-American Cameron Krutwig.
