Trojans sweep Eagles to begin spring break tour

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 PIPPAS PASSES, Kent. --- Trinity hit the road over the weekend for the first stop in their spring break tour as they faced the Eagles of Alice Lloyd College. In a pair of doubleheaders, the Trojans had a clean sweep as they won all four games over Friday and Saturday.
 

Game One:
The first inning saw six batters as each team's defense started strong before scoring opened up in the second. Trinity took the early lead, 3-1 after a homerun by Ethan Oksroba on the second pitch. Luis Henriquez and Ridley Edington scored two more on a hit by Alfonso Gomez.

Trinity continued to bring runners in as they made a big offensive push in the fourth inning with singles by Oskroba, Henriquez, and R. Edington and a home run by Blake Lazaris. The Trojans created a substantial lead in the fourth until the Eagles began mounting a comeback, scoring five runs in the fifth inning and then tying the game 10-10 in the sixth.

With a tied game, R. Edington doubled on his first pitch at bat and brought in three runs to give the Trojans the lead again. At the game's end, the Trojans would tally 16 hits with two home runs and secure their second win of the season, 13-10.
 

Game Two:
Into the second game of the doubleheader, the Trojan offense started off slowly as their first runs didn't come until the fifth inning. Trinity trailed 0-2 until consecutive doubles by Ethan Oskroba and Ridley Edington scored three runs. The score held at 3-2 until the seventh inning when Blake Lazaris doubled to get on base then advanced to second before R. Edington sent him home with a single.

The Eagles countered with a run and tried to tie the score but were unsuccessful. The Trojans swept the doubleheader with a 4-3 victory to end the day. Trinity played a clean game in the field without a single error and tallied 10 hits, with R. Edington and Oksroba leading the way.
 

Game Three:
Coming out swinging, the Trojans offense started with back to back singles by Blake Lazaris and Jose Matos. After a stolen base, Blake Lazaris scores from a ground ball by Ridley Edington. In the third inning the Trojans took the lead 5-2 with a double by Ridley Edington.

The score held in the fourth inning before the Trojans opened the floodgates in the fifth, scoring six runs. Blake Bruce and Blake Lazaris led the Trojans as Bruce hit a homerun to score three runs followed by a Lazaris home run to score two more. Entering the seventh inning with the lead, 11-3, the Trojans weren't done yet as they added three more after a double by Samuel Edington.

 
Game Four:
In the final game of the series, Trinity led 3-0 and looked to make the clean sweep as they scored two runs in each of the first four innings and entered the fifth inning with a 8-3 lead. The Trojans continued to dominate throughout the fifth inning as they added another seven runs. Luiz Henriquez, Ridley Edington and Andrew Johnson hit singles, while Jose Matos added a double to lead the Trojans in hits during the fifth.

Leaving the fifth inning with a 15-5 lead, the Trojans kept pushing and added another five runs in the sixth after doubles by Blake Lazaris, R.Edington, and Johnson. Trinity secured the series with a 20-5 victory over the Eagles, including 19 hits and only three errors.

 
Up Next:
The Trojans (5-7) travel to Tennessee today to face Grace Christian University and Johnson University in single games on March 8 and 9. Both games are scheduled for 3:00pm EST.
