Box Score DEERFIELD, Ill. - On an day to honor the senior class of 2017-18 the TIU Men's Soccer team won a thriller, defeating Olivet Nazarene University 3-2 on a late goal from Joseph Sanborn.

The Trojans struck first on a cold and windy Saturday afternoon, as Nathaniel Michaelis found the back of the net in he 17th minute to give TIU the early lead.

ONU got right back into the match after a handball in the box gave the Tigers a chance to equalize from the penalty spot. Tumi Moshobane made no mistake on the penalty, converting to make it 1-1 in the 23rd minute. Neither side had many opportunities in the remainder of the half, leaving the score at 1-1 after 45 minutes.

In the second half, once again it was the Trojans who struck first, this time coming on a penalty kick. Just as we saw earlier in the game the Tigers this time were called for a penalty in the box and Francesco De Felice converted his second penalty kick attempt of the season to give TIU the lead.

ONU would not go down without a fight, pressing the Trojans all over the field in the final 20 minutes. After having the majority of the possession the Tigers finally broke through, scoring and leveling the game 2-2 in the 82nd minute.

With overtime on the horizon the Trojans decided to take things into their own hands and on Senior Day, it was a Trojan Senior who scored the game winner. After a foul 25 yards outside the box, T.J. Cake floated a perfect ball inside the six yard box where Sanborn was there to head it home in the 83rd minute for the win.

The Trojans are back in action Tuesday for the regular season finale against Calumet St. Joseph at 2 pm.
