ELGIN, Ill. - In their final race of the season the TIU Men's and Women's Cross Country teams put forth a strong showing, finishing 9th in the Men's 8K run, and 11th in the Women's 5K run.
In the Men's 8K the Trojans again were paced by Freshman
Chase Manke, who finished with a team best time of 29:09.8. Not far behind him was fellow FreshmanÂ
Justin Chu who finished just a few seconds behind Manke with a time of 29:27.3. The 9th place finish was the Trojans best team score of the year.
On the Women's side, Freshman Shayla Sotelo put forth another strong finish, leading TIU and finishing 79th overall with a time of 23:12.7. Junior Amber Dieringer in her first run posted a solid score, finishing 93rd with a time of 23:56.2. Like the Men's squad, the 11th place finish was the top team score of the season for the team.
"This season has been a great learning year for our program," said Head Coach
Nate Quilling. "Both our men's and Women's teams have been focused on improving each and every day, and I am proud of the way they competed as a team, and the way they encouraged each other as teammates," said Quilling.
