Quick Notes
• The 2015 postseason gets underway this week, as Trinity International hosts a CCAC Tournament Quarterfinal match on Friday afternoon, against the 5th-seeded St. Francis Saints. TIU earned the No. 4 seed after posted an 8-2-2 record in conference play.
• Friday's match will be streamed live online, at TIUTrojans.com.
• The Trojans are unbeaten in their last seven matches, their longest such streak this season. TIU has won their last four contests, outscoring their opponents by a combined 18-1.
• The Trinity offense ranks 5th in the CCAC with 2.53 goals scored per game, while St. Francis has averaged 2.12 goals each game, 6th-most in the conference.
• Defensively, the Trojans hold a 0.84 goals against average to rank 2nd in the CCAC. St. Francis sits 5th, with a 1.07 goals against average.
• Trinity is coming off three straight seasons with 13 or more wins, and two consecutive appearances in the NAIA Women's Soccer Championship. They last won the CCAC Tournament in 2013, when they started the postseason as the No. 5 seed.
Last Time Out
• The Trojans finished out the regular season with an upset win over No. 11 Olivet Nazarene, denying the Tigers the CCAC season title in a soggy 2-0 victory at Schartner Field.
• The Trojans outshot the Tigers by a 17-7 margin throughout the match, as Marta Sobey and Samantha Yasatan both scored in the second half to give Trinity the win.
In the Polls
• The Trojans are currently unranked, but Trinity earned its highest ranking in eight years, coming in at No. 17 in the NAIA Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Top 25 Poll last month.
• Trinity improved six spots from their No. 23 ranking in the final 2014 poll, and have earned the program's highest ranking since the 2007 preseason poll, when the Trojans were selected No. 14. That season, TIU finished with an 11-8-2 overall record, reaching the NCCAA North Central Regional Final.
• TIU's appearance in the preseason poll also marks the fourth straight season that the Trojans have been nationally ranked at some point during the year.
• TIU has been ranked in the Preseason Poll eight times in program history, since the poll began in 1999. (2000-2002, 2007, 2012-15)
• Currently, the Trojans are ranked 8th in the NCCAA National Rankings, after not earning a vote in last week's poll.
Last Meeting with St. Francis
• A first-half goal stood up, but a late strike from the Saints near the end of regulation led to a 1-1 draw on Homecoming Saturday.
• The Trojans outshot the Saints by a 14-9 margin throughout the match, but of the six shots on goal, only Morgan Elzinga scored, collecting her fifth goal of the year in the 32nd minute to give Trinity the 1-0 edge.
• With less than 15 minutes to play in regulation, St. Francis found the equalizer, off the foot of Leslie Rueda. The Trojans had a pair of late shots, but Isabelle Danner's attempt was blocked, and Samantha Yastan missed wide.
• Trinity had the majority of chances in the extra periods, outshooting USF 5-2 over the final 20 minutes. Yasatan and Jillian Kolster each had shots on target that were saved by the St. Francis keeper to keep the match alive.
Scouting the Opponents
St. Francis
• The Saints have gone 5-2 since facing off against the Trojans back on Oct. 3, but three of those wins came against teams that did not qualify for the CCAC Tournament.
• The St. Francis attack generates 17.35 shots per match, the 4th-best average in the CCAC, and 49th-best nationally in the NAIA.
• Alex Trular leads the Saints with seven goals on the year, with three teammates scoring five or more times as well. Trular is in a tie for 10th on the CCAC goals leaderbaord, and ranks 6th in shots (65), and 7th in shots per game (3.82).
• Goalkeeper Jessica Kiely ranks 6th, with a 1.27 goals against average this season, but comes in 9th in the CCAC with a save percentage of .757.
• Trinity holds a 9-0-1 mark against St. Francis dating back to 2007, with the lone draw coming earlier this season.
Champions of Character
• Last season, Trinity International earned the Karl Boeck Conference Champions of Character Award for the fourth consecutive year. The Trojans have gone six straight seasons without a single red card; in 2014, TIU was charged with two yellow cards over 20 matches, for the lowest per-match average in the CCAC.
• This season, the Trojans have still not earned a single red card, and have just one yellow over 17 matches.
Player of the Week
• Four times this year, Trojans have been selected as CCAC Offensive or Defensive Players of the Week.
• On Tuesday, TIU earned their first sweep of the weekly conference award, as Samantha Yasatan and McKenzie Chappell were both selected.
• Sophmore defender Michelle Ortiz has twice been named CCAC Defensive Player of the Week this year (Sept. 29; Oct. 27).
• Yasatan now has won the CCAC Offensive Player of the Week honor six times during her career, but Tuesday marked the first time in 2015 that she earned the award.
• Chappell was also named the NCCAA National Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, the first national honor for Trinity this season.
CoSIDA Honoree
• Midfielder Gina Collesano became the second women's soccer player from Trinity to earn a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team last week.
• A senior studying Biology/Pre-Med at TIU, Collesano was one of just three players from the CCAC to be selected.
• Collesano is also a two-time CCAC All-Academic Team member, and last year was named an NAIA and NCCAA Scholar-Athlete.
Player Notes
• Senior Morgan Elzinga is the team leader in shots, goals, and points at this point in the season. Elzinga is tied for 6th in the CCAC with 11 goals on the year.
• Elzinga also ranks 7th in the league with 26 total points, and 1.53 points per game.
• After recording only three goals in the season's first ten matches, Samantha Yasatan has returned to form, scoring five times in the last four matches. The senior has nine goals this season, good for 8th on the CCAC leaderboard.
• Freshman Jillian Kolster leads the Trojans with five assists, and is tied for 6th among conference leaders.
• Freshman McKenzie Chappell has started the last 15 of 17 matches for the Trojans in goal, and has a 0.86 goals against average, with 13 goals allowed. Chappell ranks 2nd in the CCAC, and 33rd nationally in the NAIA in goals against average, and is 8th in the league with a .768 save percentage.

• With a victory over the Saints, Trinity International will wait the results of the quarterfinal match between St. Ambrose and Judson. If the 8th-seeded Eagles can upset the host Bees, then Trinity will host a CCAC Tournament Semifinal match against Judson on Tuesday, November 10.
