Trojans and Eagles finish in double-overtime draw

Box Score ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - On a cold and rainy evening the TIU Women's Soccer team earned a hard fought point in the CCAC standings as the Trojans and Eagles finished in a 2-2 draw.

It was the Trojans who struck first earl in the match as Junior Jillian Kolster found the back of the net for her first of two goals on the day. Kylie Bowman registered the assist on the goal, bringing her to six assists on the season and setting a new career high.

The Eagles leveled the match at a goal a piece late in the half when Leigha Crowder scored her first goal of the season, tapping in the easy finish after cross to the back post. Both teams would go into the halftime break with a goal, but RMU would hold the shot advantage 10-5.

The second half saw much of the same from both teams as again it was Kolster who put the Trojans on the scoreboard, converting her career best 22nd goal of the year in the 54th minute off of an assist from Heather Ortiz.

The Eagles would not go down without a fight as RMU tied things up in 70th minute, scoring on a header after the initial shot rang off the crossbar.

90 minutes was not enough to settle the match, but neither team was able to find the back of the net in the two overtime periods, ending the match in a 2-2 draw. The Trojans out shot RMU in both overtime periods, combining for six shots, to RMU's three.

The Trojans return home for their final CCAC match of the season this Saturday on Homecoming Weekend when they take on the Olivet Nazarene University Tigers at 12 pm.
