Women's Soccer come up short vs. Biola in NCCAA Tournament.

Box Score KISSIMMEE, Florida. - In their final game of the pool play stage the TIU Women's Soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to Biola University on Wednesday evening.

In a battle of the #3 and #4 seeds in the tournament the Trojans found themselves in a fight with one of the top NCAA DII teams in the country. The Eagles held the majority of the possession to begin the opening half, firing 4 shots in the first 15 minutes. Sophomore Rebecca Wells made two key saves in the early going to keep the game scoreless.

After some good work from the Trojan defense, the Eagles were able to find the back of the net in the 23rd minute when Paula Labate found herself all alone inside the box and slotted the games first goal into the side neting.

Just a few moments after the opening goal of the match the Eagles struck for a second time when Janae Megorden fired a bullet from 20 yards out that beat Wells to the far post to make it 2-0 going into the halftime break.

In the second frame the Trojans played arguably their best half of soccer this season, nullifying any Eagle scoring chances as well as having multiple opportunities on goal. Jillian Kolster finished the night with three shots on goal to lead TIU. The Trojans had their opportunities but could not find the back of the net.

With the loss the Trojans finished the NCCAA Tournament 1-1, and by virtue of a tiebreak fell just short of earning the wildcard, and the final berth in the national semi-finals. The Lady Trojans finished the 2017 season 14-7-1, which was an increase of 8 wins from the 2016 campaign.
