Trojans suffer defeat vs. #2 Cougars

Box Score DEERFIELD, Ill. - Sophomore Goalkeeper Rebecca Wells made a career high 15 saves on the afternoon, but the Cougar attack was too strong as the Trojans dropped their first match of the season 3-0 to the #2 nationally ranked Spring Arbor Cougars on Tuesday afternoon.

The Trojan attack struggled to earn chances at goal, as the Cougars (1-0) fired 28 shots, with 18 shots on goal. Spring Arbor got on the board in the 18th minute as Bethany Balcer put away her first of the season from just outside of the box. The Cougars added a second goal in the first half as a deflected shot from Aubrey Schierbeek found the back of the net.

The Cougars struck again midway through the second half, taking advantage of a Trojan turnover, putting the game away and making it 3-0 in the 77th minute.

The Lady Trojans will be back at it again Saturday August 26th as they face off against the Campbellsville Tigers at 12 pm. on Schartner Field.
