Women's Soccer wins thriller in Overtime

Box Score DEERFIELD, Ill. - In a back and forth match throughout, it was the Trojans who would prevail as Jillian Kolster scored her fourth and fifth goals of the season including the game winner in overtime as Trinity International defeated Harris Stowe State 3-2.

The Hornets struck first just three minutes into the game after a misplayed corner kick in the box found the foot of Lizette Popoca who put it away to give Harris Stowe the early lead.

The Trojans struggled to find the back of the net after multiple scoring opportunities, but TIU would finally break through in the 44th when Kaylee Wallentine converted for her first goal of 2017. Junior Rachel Conrady earned the assist after beautifully played through ball found an oncoming Wallentine who then slotted it home.

TIU dominated the possession in the early going of the second half but it once again was the Hornets who grabbed the lead, when Popoca knocked in her second goal of the game directly off of a corner kick in the 54th minute.

The Trojans peppered 23 shots on the afternoon but couldn't seem to find the net late in the second half. Kolster finally ended the Trojans scoreless drought in the 68 minute when she added her first of two goals and 4th of the season. The two teams finished the rest of the half scoreless forcing overtime for the first time this year for the Trojans.

Kolster and the Trojans struck early in OT after Wallentine earned her third point of the afternoon, finding a wide open Kolster who made no mistake, slotting home the game winner.

TIU looks for their fifth win of 2017 when they take on NCAA DIII opponent Cornell College on Saturday afternoon at Schartner Field.
